Hi David, It's the cheaper ammo. I would add a aftermarket magazine to fix that issue.

David, the Ruger Security has been tested with a large number of ammo ranging from fmj to wide hollow point ammunition without issue. Just stay away from steel cased and use brass cased ammo and you will be just fine.

Hello David, I hope you got it figured out. Most brands should run well. Maybe the cheaper steel cased ammo will have some problems. Hope that helps!
