The HD natural stainless seem hard to come by and are about $100 higher than the HD NI (nickel plated) Are the nickel plated as durable ?
Are they equal or is one somehow better/more durable than the other?

The nickel will wear and eventually come off the stainless is forever. I would take a blued gun before a nickel

Leonard, todays Nickel is electroless nickel and is significantly more durable than 'bright' nickel of old. Nickel, and Chrome are quite hard as compared to the base metal, and should wear just fine..
