Marlowe, the listing for this shotgun is listed as 2 3/4 and 3" Chambers. I would verify with Remington per the model/OUC. You will not have any issues with 2 3/4 inch shells low or hi brass with this shotgun. Remington Customer Service - 1-800-243-9700
3 inch 1100s will not cycle with 2 3/4 ammo you can change to a 2 3/4 inch barrel on a 3 inch receiver and it will work just fine you can also modify a 3 inch barrel to cycle with 2 3/4 loads but THEN YOU SHOULD NEVER FIRE 3 INCH shells in it again I have been fixing and shooting 1100s at trap skeet sporting and hunting for 40 years
