No transfer fee on earth should be more then $30! Who is charging you this? Buds does not charge you a transfer fee, your FFL dealer will.

In California the DROS fee (that covers background check) is $19. You also have a $1.00 Firearms Safety Act fee, and a $5 Safety Enforcement fee. Your FFL dealer may also charge an additional fee up to $10 per firearm. At most they should charge you $35 in California.

The transfer fee (TAX) is set by the STATE government. For example, it is $7.50 in Utah, $25 in Nevada. You complaint is with your elected officials in California not Bud's.
