the biggest difference is that Kimber submitted and paid the state of CA a large FEE to be allowed to sell that model in CA. why cant you by a NON CA gun because the lawmakers in you state have passed laws saying it must be a gun approved by them and when they start enforcing your microstamping law they will all be gone in CA (new models will never get approved)
Greg, simply because California will only allow the "Specific Approved Firearm that is on their DOJ Approved Roster". Not all model have been approved and even though essentially an identical model, California won't allow it.
