Doesn't make much difference. Even with Hornady's loads it's a 150 yard gun. It should kill deer just fine. In many tests shorter barrels tend to be stiffer and give better accuracy so it may be a more accurate rifle.

Jordan, I would wait for the 22 inch barrel to come back in stock Jordan. You would be giving up approximately 240 to 260 feet per second which equates to an additional 75 yards of maximum effective range over the 16.12 inch barrel model. You will also have less bullet drop at any given range as well.
