I received my California PFEC and it stated that I was eligible to both possess and purchase a firearm. I know the next step is for a dealer to check NICS, what do they check for. I've never had a felony and not under indictment for any crime. Can you check the NICS system to purchase a firearm? Honestly I had a 5150 in 1990 but it was due to drugs and wondering if that will come up in the NICS check?

The National Instant Criminal Background Check System, or NICS, you should be good to go since you passed the CA check
