Absolutely!! It will take 5.56 or 223 (just don't ever fire 5.56 out of a 223).

Yes. Guns chambered to shoot 5.56 can shoot .223 because the 5.56 is a higher pressure round. However guns chambered to shoot .223 should not be used to shoot 5.56 for the same reason.
