Does this barrel have the same taper/profile as the american predator 308 18" that is threaded 5/8-24? Want it for my young son to shoot suppressed so I either have to buy the compact model and have it threaded or buy the predator model and purchase a compact stock separately.

Chris, The barrel on the compact is the exact same barrel as on the ruger Predator MTBLK except not threaded. The compact barrel can be threaded. Ruger has a custom shop feature on the website. May want to see if they would make a compact with threaded barrel. Buy a father and son pair and just swap barrels? Price is right.

Chris the Predator model and compact stock separately would probably be the best option. I would price the cost for barrel threading and the separate stock and make your decision on which works best for you.
