Would it be possible to find out or get a picture of the receiver stamping on this 5817 model. I was told at Ruger the later models were stamped with the 5.58 NATO stamp. Also, at what point before the purchase could I get a serial number to check the facts on the gun purchase.

It is 5.56 NATO. You cannot receive a serial number before hand. Only after you receive it at your FFL.

It would be awesome to get a serial number before but they handle so many items that they are unable to do so (you can contact them but I do not believe they can accommodate). This is 5.56 NATO stamped model.
