the material (steel) the slide is made out of is the difference this gun is a matte black carbon steel slide the stainless has a matte stainless-steel slide
Slide metal and strength are the same with this pistol having a Black finishing protective coating "Blueing" and the other with the matte stainless slide. Differences are strictly cosmetic for personal preference.
James according to the Taurus site the Black is a Carbon steel slide so the material is different "Both the 9mm Luger and the .40 S&W G2C models are offered with either a matte black carbon steel slide or with a matte stainless-steel slide" https://www.taurususa.com/product-details.cfm?id=926&category=Pistol&toggle=&breadcrumbseries=G2c
Tensile strength is rated the same for both slides was all I was saying Randy.
agreed strength is (practically the same) the same but the type of metal is different in fact carbon Steel can be less brittle than some Stainless steel
