No it's very big and the square butt prints under a shirt. The Commander size 1911 with the round butt is a good option. This ATI is not a round butt but is a good option for a low price. https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/75560/ATI+Firepower+Xtreme+GI+1911
William, function and reliability wise, yes. CCW depends entirely on the individual. If you are comfortable with the 1911 platform then this pistol will serve you well my friend.
William, Whatever your comfortable with works. If your presently toting the M&P 40 this firearm will be thinner. Different manual of arms being hammer fired, frame safety and less capacity. I would stick with the M&P 40 S&W if that is what you are comfortable with and have a good holster for. LEO's carry the M&P 40 S&W and not 1911 platforms.
with a good belt and holster it can be carried however the CS or officers size would be lighter and easier to carry I carry a RIA 1911 cs (officers size) and can highly recommend it I carry it IWB in a aliengear holster see link https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/2084_21_876/products_id/35192/Rock+Island+51429+Rock+Standard+CS+Single+45+ACP+3.6+7%2B1+Black+Rubber+Grip+Bla
