Scott, the Mossberg Patriot has been a decent entry level rifle that gets the job done. Decent reviews and decent accuracy is the norm. I would however spend just a tad more for a tried and true Savage. I own several Big Name rifles and saw the light that more money does not always mean more function or accuracy. Savage has a sort of "Cult" following for out of the box accuracy and I for one can attest to this. It will boil down to your ultimate intended use for the rifle.
