The Weatherby is definitely the higher quality of the two. It is more refined and polished with a butter smooth action. Definitely an apples to oranges comparison. The Patriot was designed to be a low cost option that will get the job done and just simply won't have the same craftsmanship as the Vanguard. Both would work but, the Weatherby is a couple of classes above the Patriot.
if you want a gun to have pride of ownership in the Weatherby is the choice if you want a low cost tool that gets the job done you will be happy with the Mossberg If you are going to hunt hard in nasty conditions I would go with the Mossberg
