Timothy, given the caliber, the recoil pad is average but decent. There are certainly better suited recoil/decelerator pads available. Pachmayr Butt Pad Recoil Pad are examples : https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=decelerator+pad

its a ok pad but Kick eez and Pachmayer decelerator pads are much better https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=decelerator+pad
