Yes, you will need a threaded barrel. Remington does make other models with threaded barrel and Buds sell them.
In this case you would need to replace the barrel or have a gunsmith cut and turn threads permitting there is enough to keep barrel length within legal limits. In any case this would require work from a gunsmith. The current configuration is machined with an integral compensator meant to counteract muzzle rise and some recoil. This actually makes the rifle louder.
You would need a non ported threaded barrel to use a suppressor.
I would suggest you consider looking at the Remington 700 Tactical series that Bud's sells - they have been proven to run great suppressed..
