Basim, this rifle is stamped 5.56NATO so it will safely fire both 5.56 and .223. If a firearm barrel is only stamped .223 then it is generally considered to not be advisable, due to safety/warranty reasons, to fire 5.56 ammunition. 5.56 ammo is loaded to higher pressure than .223 ammo.
