I have a ruger 556 mpr and I was wanting to swap out the upper for this one will is work without modification or will I run into feeding issues.

Should be just fine. The feed ramps are in the barrel not the lower. Just get the proper magazines. 300 blackout from Magpul are best. Your original 5.56/223 magazines may work though.
