I recently purchased this rifle 11/18. When wiping barrel down before mounting my scope the barrel was evenly covered in surface rust. After 6 cleanings I still get rust on my wipe down rags, is this normal or as expected for an Ab3?

I sent it to Browning a week after I purchased. They sent it back to me saying it is normal for their "Rust bluing" process. To not wipe it down hard to see the iron rust color come off and keep it oiled with CLP.

Hi Daniel, I guess we will have to take their word for it. I don't own any Browning rifles but, the several I have. Remington's, Marlins, Savages, Rugers,  and even Mosin Nagants and many others  don't exhibit this characteristic.

It can happen with "rust Bluing" I suggest a light coat of Rig Universal Gun greasewhe storing the gun
