The right top of the magazine has to slide over and depress the magazine catch. See if that area is smooth. If not lightly deburr it and try again. The area where it latches should be smooth also.

If its just one of the magazines I suspect a call to colt will get you a replacement mag If more that one mag You may need to replace or smooth the mag release (easy job on a 1911) contact colt at : 800-962-COLT (2658) - Hours: Mon-Fri 9am to 5pm EST
