Howard, +P ammunition is ammunition that is loaded to a slightly higher pressure for higher "Velocity" than standard non +P Ammunition.
Howard, Overpressure ammunition in small arms ammunition is commonly designated +P or +P+. It is loaded to a higher internal pressure (more or hotter powder) then standard ammunition of that caliber, but less then the pressure generated by a proof round. Generally increases the speed of the round. In layman's terms: just a little more punch
+ p is a higher pressure round of ammo it is above the SAMI pressure standards for the caliber. The problems with them are that some guns (especially older or light weight) are not made to withstand the higher pressure and can be dangerous it also increases wear on firearms
