Sam, Rock Island is good to go. I own two in 10mm, 6' Barrel Big Rock and 5" Barrel HC and I love them both. Fit and finish are excellent, they are reliable and accurate. RIA 1911's are hard to beat and if you factor in the price, even more so.

Hi. In my 30+ years of shooting, owning and trading 1911s, I've had the pleasure of owning several Rock Island models. I can honestly say they have been reliable, fit and finish is good, and they have been a real pleasure to own. I've never had occasion to have to return one to the manufacturer for any reason, and have 'customized' a couple along the way. They seem to have a decent factory trigger, and decent sights. They're definitely a cut above many of the less expensive models, and of course, there are many other 1911 that are better made, and mush 'fancier' If you're looking for a good all-around range gun, or even carry gun, I can only tell you I would not hesitate to buy another Rock Island. The quality is definitely 'built-in', and Rock Island seems to take pride in their work. I have 8 RIA 1911s in various calibers and sizes They are the BEST 1911 in their price range and better than many in a higher price range. I have had a RIA that needed to go back and have some work done and RIA was the best to work with and the issue was handled the way it should have been they fixed the problem then for my trouble the did a polish and trigger job and included a extra mag when the sent it back to me
