I'm not familiar with SC laws. In Tennessee you cannot carry a loaded long gun. It specifies pistols. The shockwave falls in between long gun and hand gun. If your law states carry a concealed pistol then the shockwave is not legal.

I would urge you to consult a prosecuting attorney in your county.  Police officers, while well meaning and more knowledgeable than the average "joe citizen",  often are not sufficiently familiar with the specific provisions of and exceptions to gun laws and are not usually the best source of information.
