Cynthia, yes you can. Since different Officers may have different interpretations of your local laws, I would ask your "Chief Law Enforcement Officer" - Police Chief or Sheriff on their take on this. Stay safe!
It will depend on state and local laws I would ask your local police head and also your local DA. You could also check with a local concealed carry instructor
I'm not familiar with SC laws. In Tennessee you cannot carry a loaded long gun. It specifies pistols. The shockwave falls in between long gun and hand gun. If your law states carry a concealed pistol then the shockwave is not legal.
I would urge you to consult a prosecuting attorney in your county. Police officers, while well meaning and more knowledgeable than the average "joe citizen", often are not sufficiently familiar with the specific provisions of and exceptions to gun laws and are not usually the best source of information. If you contact your local prosecutor, or a state prosecutor, you can be much more confident of getting the correct information.
