Did you try your local/county prosecuting attorney? Police./law enforcement is, unfortunately, not a great source for finding out technicalities of the laws. I'd recommend trying the prosecutor's office. Good luck. It's a real maze sometimes.

Cynthia, this is very surprising and utterly ridiculous to tell you the truth. I am in NC and your SC Laws practically mirrors NC's. I carry legally and keep an AR Pistol in my vehicle and a Pistol on my person at all times. My Sheriff was able to answer this similar question many years back, so I don't understand the problem SC's finest is having answering this for you. All I can say is don't give up Lady.

here in NC the shockwave would NOT be covered by a Concealed Handgun permit you could carry it open but do not cover or hide it. I find it normal that the different law enforcement agencies don't know gun laws even in the pro gun states the laws are complex and hard to understand
