Hello. I really like the look of this gun. I like all metal guns. I like the features and specs of this gun. Would you buy this gun with the history of problems? Do I need to be concerned with the date of manufacture? I need advice from knowledgeable gun people like you. Please help.

Greg, I have followed the history of the R51 since it was introduced. The number of reported problems has dropped dramatically which leads me to believe Remington has and is addressing reported issues. I say go for it. Now, with that being said, Buds low cost Lifetime Supplemental Warranty seems an attractive option for piece of mind.

IF you're asking for a personal opinion, then no, I would not.  I would check out a Ruger LCP 9mm or the EC9.  I've enjoyed fantastic service from every Ruger I've ever owned.  There is just too much history associated with this particular pistol right now, and I would give them time to get it right.  Buds has good prices on the Rugers.
