CA has a own roster of approved guns, and they require a chamber loaded indicator, safety, no fire with magazine out and for all new guns after a certain date they must have microstamping on the firing pin. The approved M&P Shied has all these features except for microstamping on the fireing pin since it is grandfathered in. http://certguns.doj.ca.gov/safeguns_resp.asp
