Mark - break-down shotguns have extractors - they 'lift' the empty hull up out of the chamber to allow you to easily grasp and remove them. ejectors are included on bolt action rifles and semi-auto rifles pistols and shotguns, which require the firearm to 'eject' the empty shell casing away from the firearm completely, to allow another round to be loaded in its place by the action of the firearm. Hope this helps! .
