Ron - The Heritage comes from the factory with a Match grade barrel. If you want to install this one just for the threads, then yes it should be "drop in". However, due to the uniqueness of every 1911, some minor fitting might be required. This is true for most "drop in' 1911 parts. If you aren't experienced at fitting a barrel in a 1911, I suggest you get a gunsmith to do it for you. The Heritage is a nice pistol, and no one wants to take a chance on ruining it by not fitting a barrel properly. If this barrel does just "drop in" and the pistol seems to function correctly, you might get a friend with 1911 experience to just double check for you after the barrel is installed. . Enjoy the Heritage. They're "shooters" for sure.
If your Dan Wesson is a Bull barrel or a ramped barrel it will not work if it is a bushing barrel it will work but I advise that a good 1911 smith check out the fit and lock. I carry a scar on my forehead form a 1911 kaboom form a improperly fitted drop in barrel installed by a Navy armorer
