The capacity should be correct as advertised, the difference in diameter between .45 and 9mm allows 10 rounds of 9mm to fit where only 8 rounds of .45 could. This model and practically all 1911's have a fully functional grip safety.

Jake - Rest assured this pistol has a fully functional grip safety. And yes, the mag capacity for a government size 1911 is indeed 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition. In a 45 acp 1911, standard is 8 + 1.

It could very well be a 10 rounder. Sometimes you have to load one less bullet than the advertised capacity in pistol magazines as the follower spring can be too stiff and cause feeding issues. This 1911 along with any other geniune 1911's have functional grip safeties.
