This gun is striker-fired, which effectively makes in SAO in terms of second strike capability, and somewhere in between DAO and SAO in terms of trigger pull. There are however a number of P320 models without a manual safety.

Jose, This P320 uses a striker-fired mechanism in lieu of a double action only hammer system. This gives it a "Single Action Only" function the same as a Glock or 1911.

Jose, The terms single action and double action were originally coined for revolvers and later rolled over to semi-autos. The P320 is a SA only semi auto. The Sig P250 is a DA only. The P320 was designed after the P250 except that the P250 is an internal hammer fired gun while the P320 is striker fired. The two guns shares the same polymer frame and magazines and both have modular fire control units although they are not interchangeable between the two models. The primary difference between the P320 and P320 M17 is the M17 has a thumb safety and a couple of minor internal differences. If you don't need a thumb safety and want to save a little money, look at the P320 full size or carry models.
