I was curious- my current AR pistol has a simple buffer tube- would this attach directly to an AR pistol upper, or is it designed to only fit on the rail that the MPX/MCX have on the back?

No, the MCX doesn't use a buffer tube spring, so it can pivot and fold the stock.  Regular ARs have to have tube, so this stock wont work. If you found this answer helpful, please mark it as the "Best Answer". Thank you.

It is compatible with: 	Sig Sauer MCX / Sig Sauer MPX - It will not be compatible with a spring buffer tube AR/firearm.
