Christopher, I've been carrying my Shield 45 pretty much every day for well over a year and the slide still looks as good as it did the day I bought the pistol - and I don't "baby" it. I'd have to say it is every bit as scratch resistant as the Glocks I carried for 20+ years on duty. I'm very satisfied with the way the finish on my Shield is holding up, with minimal maintenance - which is merely wiping it down with a couple drops of oil on a cotton cloth once a month or so. I think you will be happy with the finish. .

Christopher, It is "Scratch Resistant". The Slide Finish is actually Armornite® which is as tough as Glocks Tennifer Finish durability wise.

Christopher, Besides being scratch resistant this impregnated finish/treatment will not even wear off. Even in Kydex or leather holster. The "Armornite" treatment is in the metal of the slide not on it. It's hard.

Its very unlikely that the slide will scratch at all and at the low price that Buds has this gun for it is definitely worth buying it now, I waited and the price went up a couple week ago about $100 and now it is back down so you can possibly get this gun home for around $230 after the rebate from S&W so definitely take advantage of the deal as soon as you can.
