Jake, this rifle does have a heavy barrel according to the Armalite site. Assuming I interpreted your question correctly.
Jake, I chose the Savage MSR-10 L. I haven't received it yet since it is currently on layaway. I looked at a lot of reviews and videos and definitely think I made the right decision. I will test it thoroughly when I receive it but, have no doubts it will perform.
According to the Armalite web site, this model has a Heavy, 20", Double Lapped, Chrome Lined/Chrome Moly Barrel. The Savage also features a fluted Heavy barrel. Both have 2 stage triggers. Both feature nice, adjustable precision stocks. Both feature nice free float M-Lok hand guards. The Armalite comes with sights, but you'll likely be installing a good scope anyway ..... This decision will just boil down to whichever on you prefer. Both companies are known for building solid, accurate rifles. Depending on your intended use ... you'll just have to "bite the bullet" and make a decision. Good luck!
