Brett, yes you can change to any of the "Standard" Mossberg 500 or Compatible Fore-ends no issue.
Brett, yes the forearm is easy to remove and replace. Any forend made for a standard Mossberg 500 should work fine in place of this one as long as it does not extend too far upward where the heat shield might interfere.
