I see the barrel select. When this gun fires, is the second shot based on the first's recoil? Does the barrel selector move automatically to the next barrel when the first is fired? Can you shoot this weapon when aiming the gun straight down (trap) or is there a mechanism that does not allow that?

yes firing the 1st barrel sets the action to fire the 2nd barrel and yes you can shoot it aiming straight down there is nothing to stop a person from shooting themselves  in the foot LOL
