Steve, yes it will Sir. .308 is actually a higher pressure round than the 7.62x51 and will fire without issue in this rifle. Similar concept to the 5.56 & .223.

Steve - you can fire 7.62X51 (nato) rounds in this gun all day long with no worry. Nearly identical in size and shape, the .308 is the more powerful and any rifle designated as safe for .3080 is definitely safe with 7.62'x51.

yes it will handle the LOWER pressure of the 7.62x51 NATO round with no issues
