Hey folks, quick question about the Sig P238. I know they have external differences, but are all of the P238's the same on the inside, the same reliability?

Jay, sorry, but maybe not a "quick" answer.  When the 238 was introduced there were problems with teh little rascal.  Guide rod problems, and main spring housing problems were two of the most prominent.  You will find lots of thread around the internet talking about these.  Note, too, that the VAST majority of these are dated 1025/2016.  SIG, as usual, stepped up to the plate, and not only repaired customers' guns, but made modifications in their materials and assembly process and seems to have conquered these problems.    The 238s are the same basic design through the line up - they aren't 1911s, regardless of the visual similarities.  .  I personally would not be afraid to buy a 238 now .. as SIG has had time to deal with the issues that cropped up.  However, given my choice, I'd pick up a 938.  I just prefer 9mm over 380 - even though I do own a couple of 380s, and I rely on them.  I don't think you have any worries now with either.  SIG is a good company.
