Robert, "Long Action" Bolt will be optimum for the 300 PRC Build. https://www.americanhunter.org/articles/2019/1/18/head-to-head-300-prc-vs-300-win-mag/
Robert - I doubt you'd find one that has more engineering and field testing behind it than these. The Remington 700 is a 'standard' for reliability. Sounds like a fun project!
Robert, Head spacing will be a problem with this bolt and action on a 300 prc. The round is about 3.7" long. A .750 bolt with a ..532 to 545 standard magnum bolt face are used in most 300 PRC builds. A Savage 110LH or Tikka T3 or T3X bolt and action would work much better. This 700 action works great with most 30 cal magnums, but there are better choices for 300/6.5 PRC.
Robert - You got em interested .. and I've done some quick reading. Actually, seems the vast majority of things I find recommend against using a 700 action. They recommend instead actions from Defiance Machine, from GA Precision and H-S Precision, So while the 700 action is tried and true, looks like it may not be the preferred solution to this situation. In fact, I found a couple of articles that specifically recommend against trying to build for this cartridge based on a 700 action, due to problems resulting from feeding from the box magazine. You may well want to do a bit more checking around before you commit to this 'solution'.
