Just purchased an E series 4.25" .45 1911. I want to get extra mags and am unsure if all mags are interchangeable on that platform. If I have an 8+1 will these work ad a straight 10rds?

David, yes Sir. This will fit and function just fine in your E series 4.25" .45 1911.

David - this magazine will work in any Full size/government model or commander/compact model 1911.  Chip McCormack Magazines are quality, reliable magazines and are one of my "go to" magazines for all my 1911s.  You will be glad you went with CMC magazines.
