Different gun .. but sort of, kind of slightly similar. Even the magazines won't interchange without modification. The AR-18 is a piston driven system. The biggest similarity is probably the name "Armalite". Trigger groups are said to be 'the same' ... but they don't look the same to me, in schematics of the original AR-18. Interesting gun though, for sure. Parts for the AR-18 are still available, as far as I can tell.
