The pistol buffer tube is the same approximate length as a normal carbine buffer tube, in order to accommodate the buffer during recoil.. This particular arm brace is held in place by a set screw, and is adjustable in the sense one can loosen the screw and move the brace back and forth on the buffer tube, then re-tighten the set screw ... so the brace is not 'adjustable' in the same sense as is a 'stock' on a carbine. I've never owned an SBX-K brace like the one on this pistol, but according to pictures no the SB web site, this will slide up to within about an inch of the back of the receiver. SB also makes a brace that is 'adjustable' in the same sense as a carbine stock, called the SBA3, which utilizes a normal carbine buffer tube with adjustment holes. .
