Angelica, Sorry, the standard capacity magazine (28) and several other features of this firearm are prohibited in CA. In your firearm shopping need 10 round or less magazine capacity, no pistol grip, telescoping stock, or muzzle device for starters.
Angelica, not this rifle. It has too many restricted features as defined here under "Rifles" : https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/feeds/state_reg/california_restrictions.pdf
Given it's in 22lr it would be legal if you had a 10 round magazine on it. Assault weapon laws don't apply to rimfires in California.
Angelica - James G and Michael W have probably overlooked the caliber of the rifle. Rimfire rifles (22LR and 17HMR, for example) are not subject to the CA restrictions on assault weapons. This gun would be fine without the magazine, as it is over 10 rounds. If you truly want it, suggest you contact Bud's directly at 1-859-368-0371 (9am-9pm EST Mon-Fri) or use the "chat now" button located at the bottom right hand portion of your screen, (9am-9pm EST 7 days a week) and ask Bud's to ship it without a magazine. They will probably be willing to remove the magazine and then ship the rifle to your FFL. You could then find a CA compliant magazine (10 rounds) to buy for the rifle. . Buds is presently out of stock on the magazine you need, but you can use the model/UPC numbers for reference, when you buy your magazine somewhere, because this is what you need: https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/714007849/mag+chiappa+m4+22lr+10rd+blk
