Dillion, unfortunately this pistol does not have a "Threaded Barrel". You would need to replace with a threaded barrel.

Dillion - There are compensators on the market for 1911s which merely replace the barrel bushing. There is no threading of the barrel required ... But since you're new to 1911s, I would suggest you try shooting this one for at least a bit before you install a compensator. In over 40 years of shooting 1911s I've never felt the recoil really needed any 'compensating', but you might feel differently. You would need one for the 'government' size. Just want to second what Rick has posted here. You do NOT need a threaded barrel for muzzle brake or compensator. The bushing type from Valkyrie Dynamics are excellent. I have two different models, one blue, one in stainless. They work as advertised to reduce muzzle rise. Note that they may interfere with your holster and are not legal for many competitions. So they are mainly for range gun fun. BTW … on the gun you have listed... there are a lot more ways to spend your "improvement" money before I ever got around to a muzzle brake. You would only need a threaded barrel if you wanted to add a sound suppressor or "silencer".
