Eric, if you are at 6" you might as well get the 6.5" to extract every bit of velocity from the 44 Magnum loads you plan to shoot ant the slightly longer sight radius for accuracy and extra weight for less recoil.

Eric - Strictly a matter of preference between those two choices. If you are going to use the 629 to hunt, then by all means get the longer barrel. Otherwise, it's pretty much six-of-one-and-half-dozen-of-the-other.
