I was under the impression that the ruger mark iv competition frame was stainless steel but when I was about to order I read the specs and they stated it had an alloy frame.....are there different mark iv competition models with different frames? I really want a stainless steel frame.

The UPC (universal product code) from Ruger says that this is the "Stainless" frame pistol. Other vendors with the same UPC list it as "Stainless" as well. You can call Buds Customer Service at 859-368-0371 to verify but this is "Stainless" according to Ruger.  -  http://www.ruger-firearms.com/products/markIVCompetition/models.html
