You should try another magazine, brand of ammo 1st thing. Give it a thorough cleaning and lube then retry. If a no go, I would arrange service with the manufacturer.
22 lr handguns are often very ammo picky. That being said I would try using CCI mini mag ammo. in my experience it will function more 22s reliable than any other 22 ammo. it would also help if you told us more about the gun IE brand and model and what ammo you tried
This is common in 22lr pistols. It can be the ammo is of low velocity or even to high of velocity. Read what the factory recommends. Try various ammo. And even allow a break in period. It should operate better through more use.
