Jon, the 8515 has Magpul furniture is the only difference. It is worth it if you plan to add any accessories and not of you do not.

Jon, Only difference between 8500 and 8515 is the furniture on the 8515. The 8505 is the FDE 8500. If the magpul furniture on the 8515 is worth $150 to you then it is worth it. I'm very happy with 8500 and spent less then $100 on updated furniture.
