There are "Prizes" awarded weekly and some "Shotgun" answers in hopes of answering quickly to accumulate points rather than doing proper research to provide accurate answers.
Wise men speak because they have something to say. Fools speak because they just have to say something. Its your job to figure out who's who.
Like James said, the attempt to get points is the reason for so many answers, both right and wrong. I think most people try to answer the question correctly, but there is sometimes human error involved and a mistake is made. Usually another person uncovers the correct answer and posts it, so that is a plus. Some questions are unanswerable customer service inquiries by the community, but are asked because there is no prequalification of the types of questions that should be asked. The community members didn't know all of Buds policies either, so that makes it even tougher. Finally there are softball questions that are repetitive, like how to layaway, price match, or get the cash discount. Most community members have the answer as a macro and just post it for convenience, often several post at the same time.
The internet is a wonderful place isn't it? That's why I enjoy competitive shooting (3-gun and USPSA) ,because you cannot lie your way through it, the results are posted and speak for themselves.
