the model 60 is the more popular gun and with Remington's financial issue last year the cut back production on a lot of guns to lower operating costs I have found the quality to be ok
Howard, you re spot on on the Model 60 being more prevalent due to the model variety. The per-2007 models were better built than the post 2007 through 2014. Quality has rebounded starting in 2015 so present purchases should be just fine.
Howard - I am not aware anything changed in the Marlin 22s when Remington bought them. They've been pretty much the same, from my observations, except maybe in the gossip of the 'internet commando' types. They're 22 rifles! For goodness sake ... what do people think Remington changed about them? Always amazed me how so many people who have never fired "X" firearm will render an opinion on them, based on the internet gossip, trying to appear as some sort of expert.. I guess I'm just growing less tolerant of internet commandos in my old age?? :-) The Marlin 22s are absolutely fine. Get ya one - it will be one of the most fun guns you ever had.
