Michael, having a hard time finding any available information on Remington employees' unions especially due to the company's association with Union Metallic Cartridge company flooding all the search results. I do know the Ilion, NY facility has a majority of employees with United Mine Workers of America membership. However, I believe the 783 is made at the Huntsville, AL factory and I have not been able to find anything about that factory or the ammunition plant in Lonoke, AK. Hopefully someone else will be along with more info.
Michael, Dated May 2016-- Remington ammunition is produced at Lonoke, Arkansas. Remington Outdoor Company announces the closure off a manufacturing facility they've operated in Mayfield, Kentucky. What's produced there, you ask? The Mayfield plant makes Remington Model 783's, 770's and 597's as well as Marlin 60's, 795's and Model XT rifles. If you've followed ROC's recent history, it probably won't surprise you to hear that they'll be moving production of these guns to their state-of-the-art Huntsville, Alabama facility. Ilion, NY is mostly union. United Mine Workers Local 717, which represents 1,180 of the 1,300 Remington employees in Ilion NY. Do not think the Union at Remington shops is very strong in the "right to work" states in the south like AL, NC, and KY.
